The Psychology of Life's Manifesto

This is what we're dedicated to

Why we're here

Here at The Psychology of Life we have a pretty simple goal: make the world a better place. There are millions of ways to go about this, but our steez is psychology and neurology with a bit of sociology and philosophy thrown in for a healthy mix. Think of it as taking all the jargon, and all the literature, and applying it to people's lives so that hopefully they may be better for it. This can be the pragmatic issues of looking to be more productive, how to learn better, or how to get better sleep. It is also going to be deeper more philosophical shit that can get you thinking about how you live your life, and what it means to be human, and how that should shape your behavior. Who knows maybe we can even produce a small shift in the zeitgeist.

Feel free to interact

We want this to be interactive. We also need your help. We realize that although we're pretty damn awesome, we're not perfect, nor is our view the only approach. We want people to chime in and call us on our B.S.. Let us know if you think of something in a different way. We're social animals after all, and we learn better when we hear perspectives that we could have never come up with. What other minds are capable of is amazing. Just ask Bandura, he'll tell you about social learning. The fact is we're smarter as a group. James Surowiecki agrees in The Wisdom of Crowds. So help us grow and speak up! We mean speak up on anything at all, if you have a topic that would make a good post, or if you have your own articles to post let us know.

What you'll get

We've already said we're about making value through what we've spent most of our time doing (studying the balls out of psychology)and we've got several ways of doing that. First and foremost, we want to be educational. We hope that you walk away saying, "Hey, I learned something today!" We'll definitely present the facts, give you some research, but not in an overly academic way. Second, we want to be engaging. We only write about the shit that we truly care and get excited about. If we're bored about a topic, then you're just going to tune out, turn 360 degrees and moonwalk the hell out of here. What have we done then? We've just wasted everyone's time. Screw that. Third, you might get recommendations from our articles for awesome ass products that are too good not to share. That's our manifesto and we're sticking to it.

  1. So I want a productive summer...what tips you got for motivation and concentration?

  2. That kind of depends on what you want. It's like Carl Jung said, "Your vision will become clear only when you can look into your own heart." Part of the motivation is knowing what you want to go for and why you want to do it. Answering that goes a long way for driving your actions and giving you the motivation and concentration to go for what you're trying to do. If you can make a compelling goal, you should be ok. If you're looking for more pragmatic answers, I'm going to put up an article here within the next couple days.
